St Bede’s College, Manchester
First opened in 1876, St Bede’s is one of the oldest and best-known educational institutions in the city. It is a fee-paying Catholic school, which combines sporting and artistic excellence with academic success. Rich Media became involved with the school when allegations of historic sexual abuse came to light.
The allegations, dating from the 1960s, had nothing to do with the current school, its staff or the board of governors but they were damaging its reputation. Its natural intake from local Catholic schools was also starting to dry up.
In partnership with an innovate and dynamic headmaster, we devised a marketing and PR strategy to tell the real story of St Bede’s and the unique education provided by this independent Catholic grammar school. Features on St Bede’s appeared in the Independent and Radio Five while its GCSE results made the front page of The Guardian.
